the blocking saga, part 1
Nov 2nd, 2008 by knittingclub in knitting
i managed to make a lot of things that had to be blocked/washed. I was wait and wait and wait for the proper time (read: when i finally felt like it) to do it. i decided this would be thursday night. I blocked lace ribbon and washed my tyrolean cardigan after being put aside for the summer. Can I only say how sick I was with myself at the colour of the water? What the heck was i doing when i wore that thing? Coal mining perhaps? Ditch digging? It’s still drying, but I managed to once again procure my younger sibling as photographer for lace ribbon.

It’s raveled here. The Silk Garden is like its more rustic cousin, Kureyon Sock, in that it knits up nicely and gets softer when you stop it. Silk Garden is already soft straight out the gate, so it’s great to plain and i loved wearing it round my neck. The dense stockinette in the design will hold out the coldness and the lace will do it wearable into spring.
I too got to photograph Selbu Modern. It fits me wish a beanie, but I really like it that way better for my hair. As you can see, it’s straight now and it’s the better way for wearing hats. Any berets on my hair when it’s curly and it looks more Rasta than Norwegian. Selbu Rasta anyone?

And I started a new wrap with some stash stuff. The thread is Great Adirondack Sierra, one skein of Toucan and one skein of Peacock if I can remember correctly. It’s a DK weight yarn and it’s 100% alpaca. I love it. And think what? I’m knitting the whole thing Continental style. I’d been getting practice with all of the fair isle work I’ve been doing, but I didn’t commit to anything only through that way until this. It’s a simple knit-from-the-center square shawl so it’s just stockinette. I receive more of Toucan than Peacock so I’ll knit it with 2 stripes of each and do the ring with Toucan. I don’t need to get to say another skein of Peacock since it’s 600 yards per skein and I’d take a ton left over.

Thanks for all of the bed on Dahlia. I’m excited and happy people wish to knit it. I only need to see another one done. I might knit another and throw it to Matt’s mom for Christmas.
Hey Marissa, this is for you.
