Pattern: Twisted Tweed Socks
Yarn: Malabrigo sock in Abril, 3/4 skein
Needles: Knitpicks Nickel DPNs size 0
Notes: I found knitting these socks to be an overall pleasant experience. I did have a few modifications. I put on 66 instead of 72 stitches, because I thought 72 would be too big. They fit, but to be true I [...]

Because he heard me complaining about how often I dislike stockinette, and how many patterns I avoid because of it. The next thing I knew, this appeared in our house:
Bought with a 50% off coupon, with a promise (from me) to do a small cover for his sister’s upcoming new baby. I’m very interested in [...]

I’m sick again this week… icky, but at least I will be good for Christmas (I accept a dread of being ill when I get so many singing gigs. Dionne shares my sadness.
We both look like this
We advert to Dionne as the “bad energy vampire.#8221;Â She isn’t a snuggly cat in general - in fact, [...]

When I was a small girl I longed to be a ballerina. I would have loved to take ballet, but unfortunately A. We couldn’t afford it, and B. I’m thinking my hippy-ish Mom would not have been into the idea. She was more the case to make me camping and instruct me how to tie [...]

Now that Grace is ended now, thank goodness, and I can ultimately have about time to myself, it’s time for an update. (I’m not a grinch, really, I’m just an introvert who never gets enough downtime during the holidays… big gatherings make me nervous.)

I ripped the embossed leaves socks I had started with my Malabrigo sock, and started a couple of Twisted Tweed socks instead.
I truly know the way this pattern looks in the yarn, and in general it’s an easy, approachable pattern. I put on 66 stitches (the pattern calls for 72) because I have thin ankles. [...]

Pattern: Polly, from Thrown Together by Kim Hargreaves
Yarn: Elann Superwash Chunky
Needles: US 10.5
Notes: Polly is a raglan, knit flat (fine by me) and seamed together at the end. I reduced the turn of buttons by one (I forgot to give the first buttonhole, but I suppose I wish it break with fewer anyway. My sweater [...]

Pattern: Little Pumpkin socks
Yarn: Wollmeise 80/20 in Kurbis
Needles: US 0 DPNs
Notes: Favorite socks ever. No joke. The rule was extremely easy to memorize, but has such a pretty result (this is my ideal in sock patterns - I get bored easily, but I’m not complete at a chart. I did make some difficulty with the [...]

Does anyone else find that they go through color phases with their knitting? I emphatically do. I run to buy yarn in clumps, with the effect that I frequently end up with multiple sweaters of thread in about the same color. This past summer it was kelly green. Early this pass it was muted aqua. [...]
