this is the lorna’s laces combed top in red rover. ah, it feels good to finish some spinning. i’ve got more bags of stuff to spin up, so it’s not a huge deal but i’ve had this on the wheel for months. i plied some about 2 weeks ago and just let it sit once i got about 150 yards. today after church, i got the wheel and finished spinning the rest of the roving and wound the rest of the plied singles into a center pull ball right from the bobbin. i think i’ve got enough for a red adamas shawl.

i’ve wanted to knit that shawl for some time now. i think the mini maiden might be too variegated for it, but i haven’t swatched for it so we shall see. i still would do the red adamas, though. when i take a pic of the plied job, you’ll be able to see the reds and the subtle pinks and slight purple in the roving. that’s what made me love it. i was in a red phase, and i thought i’d turn it into gift handspun yarn, but it was cool enough for my usual color choices that it works for me.

in the meantime, basil is growing and growing. lisa, you were right. i think i’m gonna need at least 2 more skeins to make it as big as i want it. the original size is fine but i tend to like to make things huge, especially for babies. hopefully it’ll become her favorite blankie and they can use it for her when she’s a toddler. why can’t adult blankets be this quick?
